Welcome to episode number 91 of the One Girl Travel podcast. Today I want to talk to you about this new series I'm doing on social media and it's called 100 Days of Embodying my Future Self. Now, I didn't really think this out when I published my video declaring 100 Days of Embodying my Future Self, but then I'm like, oh shoot, I'm going to have to create these videos every day for 100 days. But it's actually really exciting because the thing is about embodying your future self now. That means you don't have to wait to achieve the goal to become her. You get to implement how she acts, what she does, what she wears, what she smells like, all the things, what she eats. You get to start doing them now. You don't have to wait until after you made a certain amount of money, or your weight is a certain number, or you're wearing a certain size clothes. Whatever the circumstances, you don't have to wait. You get to become her now. And what that does for you is it makes the process so much more enjoyable because you're already having those feelings of achieving your goals. You're feeling good, and that makes the process of getting to your goal much more enjoyable, because then it's like this honestly, it feels like this weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I'm like I'm going to act as if it already happened and show up as my future self, who has achieved the thing, would show up because that energy shift is going to change everything. When you approach your goals with this desperation, energy like I have to do it, not more. If you question yourself and you doubt yourself and you feel like you're not doing a good job or you're not doing it right or you're never going to make it to that goal, all of that is just going to keep you stuck and held back and further away from your goals. So when you start to embody your future self now, you're creating that energy. You're putting out those vibes as if I got this. I'm already living, as if I achieved it. It's going to happen, no matter what, and that energy is so powerful.

With that being said, some of you might be wondering what is a future self? I don't know what that is, so let me break it down for you. Your future self is the version of you who's already living the life you want. She's you, but with more clarity, more confidence, more alignment. She's made the bold choices, she's taken the risks, she's done the healing. She shows up fully as herself, unapologetically. Your future self isn't this fantasy or some far-off goal. She's your guide, she's your vision, she's a compass for who you're becoming. Now that you know what your future self is, let's talk about how you can discover who she is. Now.

Speaker 1:

This is something that I have been working on for quite some time. I have put in a lot of thought, a lot of meditation, visualization of who my future self is. I do believe taking time to visualize your future self really helps you get clear on who she is. So I have a guided visualization I am going to be sharing with you on this podcast episode. So if you're driving, maybe save this for later. I want to make sure that you are in a safe space where you can be comfortable and you're not going to be disturbed while we go through this visualization.

Speaker 1:

So take a moment for yourself, take this moment for your future self and really get to know her. Let's get into it, okay. So hopefully you are in a comfortable space where you will not be disturbed. You can sit or lie down whatever feels most supportive to you right now and then close your eyes and take a deep breath in and slowly let it go. Take another deep breath and exhale away the heavy. Let your body soften, let your shoulders drop, let your jaw relax. Let yourself arrive in this moment. Jaw relax, let yourself arrive in this moment. Nothing else matters right now, just you and your breath. Now imagine a soft, golden light surrounding your body. This light is warm, peaceful and loving and with every inhale you invite this light in deeper. With every exhale you release anything that's not yours to carry. Let yourself settle into the stillness.

Speaker 1:

Now I want you to imagine a path in front of you. It can look however you want, maybe a forest, a boardwalk by the ocean, a glowing staircase. This path leads you to your future self. Take your first step onto this path. With each step, you feel lighter, clearer, more connected to who you truly are. Eventually, you'll notice someone in the distance and as you move closer, you realize it's you, but not just you as you are now.

Speaker 1:

This is your future self. Notice how she stands, how she moves, how she looks at you. What energy does she carry? Take a moment to look around. Where is she? What's around her? What is she doing in this version of her life? Now gently walk up to her. You don't need to say anything right away. Just be in her presence, feel how grounded she is, how confident, how free, and, when you're ready, you can ask her what do you want me to know right now? What habits helped you become this version of us? What did you have to let go of? How can I begin to embody you today? Pause and listen. You might hear words, feel sensations or simply know the answer. You can return to this place anytime you need clarity or direction. Your future self is always available to guide you and, when you're ready, thank them for being here with you and slowly start to walk back along the path, bringing their wisdom with you, bringing their energy with you, bringing their confidence with you. Come back to the present moment. Start to wiggle your fingers and toes and take a deep breath in and exhale slowly and, when you're ready, open your eyes. You've just met your future self and now you get to become her.

So, now that you've completed the visualization and you have a clear idea of who your future self is, now is a great time to take out your journal and write down these prompts. And write down these prompts. Ask yourself if nothing was holding me back, what would my life look like? How would I feel in my body? What would my days be filled with? What kind of energy would I carry into the room? These are powerful questions to think about, to really get clear on how you can embody your future self now. When you know how she dresses, shows up, what her energy is like, what she's doing with her time, all of those details that helps you take aligned actions of becoming her now. Because the magic is that you don't have to wait. You don't have to wait until you achieve the goals. You can start making micro shifts today to become her. You can start speaking like her, dressing like her, make decisions like her. You can ask yourself make decisions like her. You can ask yourself what would my future self do in this moment and then what would she do after that? And then show up with the energy that she would bring into the room, even if it's just your living room, because really, it's not about pretending. It's about choosing to step into your power before the external circumstances catch up with you. You're creating this life for yourself now, and I have been embodying my future self and embracing my future self for over a decade, really, since I started working with my mentor and I learned the concept of future self when I first began solo traveling, my biggest fear was dining by myself.

Speaker 1:

That scared me the most and made me the most uncomfortable. And I remember on my first cruise solo in 2013, I knew I was going to be dining by myself and so what I did was I packed really beautiful dresses, really pretty dresses. I even packed a bridesmaid gown from one of my friend's weddings and I dressed up like I went all out and I booked myself in a reservation at the steakhouse and I felt so good and it was like putting on that dress and getting ready and just embracing this confidence that I wasn't really feeling. But when I thought about my future self, it like overcame me. I became my future self because I was just starting to be her. I was acting as if I was her and I knew my future self.

Speaker 1:

She shows up for dinner by herself, confident and happy and excited and dressed in beautiful dresses, and happy and excited and dressed in beautiful dresses, not caring what anybody else thinks, and that is how I showed up. It's like when Clark Kent puts on his you know cape or such a bad analogy for me, but you know what I'm talking about. When Clark Kent turns into Superman. He puts the cape on, he's Superman, he has superpowers. It is transformative. That is how it felt like for me when I put my dresses on to go out to dinner by myself. I showed up just like this elevated, confident version of myself and I had the best time. I had so much fun going out to dinner by myself. And it's something that I practiced over and over and over again. And a few years ago I realized, when I was traveling, that I became my future self. I thought about all of the accomplishments I achieved and what my life was like and all the things I've done, and I realized I was my future self. I became the person I aspired to be.

And then you know what happens you have a new version of your future self and that new version is going to have different goals and she might show up differently and she might look differently and she might have different things going on in her life, because you are constantly evolving and that means your future self is going to evolve with you. And it is so exciting when you realize that you have become your future self and it's time to think even bigger. It is such a great feeling. So let's talk about the benefits of embodying your future self now. When you start living as if you're already her, you're collapsing the timeline between where you are and where you want to be. You're building confidence, clarity and momentum to move you forward towards your goals and to just enjoy the overall process of achieving those goals. You attract opportunities that align with your future because you're showing up in alignment with that version of you. You're going to be radiating this energy of confidence and power because you are acting as if you already achieved those goals and as if they already happened, and you stop waiting and you start being her. That's the beauty of all of this you don't have to wait, you get to be her now. You get to decide how you show up in your life. So why not choose to act as if you're her now? So, for the next 100 days, I am committing to embody my future self now, and I will be taking you with me on this journey on social media, on Instagram, facebook, tiktok, all the places. But but I am excited about this.

Speaker 1:

I started doing this a few days ago and I already started doing things that I truly enjoy doing but never made time for, for instance, since I became an entrepreneur full time, I have struggled with my schedule and boundaries around my workday and I'd find myself working from the moment I woke up until I went to sleep and it affected my sleeping. I really had trouble sleeping for a while because I was on my computer working until I was tired and it was late and it's not good. It is not good and my future self doesn't do that. And when I realized my future self would not be doing that, that she would have a work-life balance, I started ending my workday at a certain time and I would log off the computer, because I was on a computer all day long and what I started to do was something I was really passionate about for a long time, and that is art.

Speaker 1:

If you don't know, I am actually a fine art major. I had a focus on sculpture. That's something I really loved doing for a very long time. I love clay sculpting, but I love all art. But I have air dry clay and I began sculpting and I made some really cool things and it was so enjoyable and it was something so simple where I just was able to sit on my couch not at my desk, no screens going listening to music and just sculpting and making art, and it felt so in alignment with what my future self would do, because I see my future self with music, playing, creating art and just relaxing at the end of the day, and it brings me so much joy and it's such a simple thing, joy, and it's such a simple thing Even arranging flowers. I've always been somebody who buys herself flowers, and I bought myself a bouquet of flowers that I've never purchased before and I arranged them and I have them on my desk and I'm like my future self would have flowers at her desk. And again, a simple thing that can be such a big energy shift.

So I want you to think about what is something that you can start implementing as your future self. You don't have to do a hundred new things, like I am, but what is one thing that you can start doing? Maybe it's getting dressed in the morning a certain way. What is your future self wear? What's her style like? Maybe it's trying out a new makeup routine or having a skincare routine. Maybe your future self takes care of her skin. There's so many options available and they don't have to be these big, elaborate things. It's just these small habits that you are going to start implementing.

Speaker 1:

That is going to help you become your future self now and it's going to make your journey of going after your goals, like I said earlier, so much more enjoyable. And also, I believe, it makes it a little easier too. It's shifting your energy, and your energy is so important with how you show up, with how you do things. You can't fake it. People can tell when your energy is off. So if you feel like you need something to get you going, to create that momentum, this is something that can truly help you and it is something that is so easy. It doesn't require money. It doesn't require anything but your creativity, your openness and identifying your future self.
